Studying in Australia

Australian bachelor’s degrees usually take three years and master’s degrees one to two. Every institution and course that takes international students must be on the government’s CRICOS register.

How applications work

You apply directly to each university. Once you accept, you receive a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), which you need for your visa.

Getting your visa

You apply online with your CoE, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and answers to the Genuine Student questions about your circumstances, course choice and goals. You may need an English test depending on your circumstances. Fees and financial requirements change regularly — check the Department of Home Affairs before you apply.

Working and staying on

Student visa holders can work up to 48 hours a fortnight while their course is in session and unlimited hours in scheduled breaks. Graduates may be able to apply for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).
