University directory

Find universities in 12 study destinations, without an account

Search every university and college in the UK, USA, Canada, Ireland, Denmark, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, Australia, South Korea, Italy and New Zealand by name, other names, country and city. Every page shows what the university is, where it is, and the official places to check — and hides anything we don’t know, instead of guessing.

What it does

  • Search that knows other names

Type “UCL”, “MIT” or a city and the right university comes first. Filter by country and city, or browse a country’s main cities.

  • UK Student visa sponsor tick

Universities and colleges licensed by the Home Office to sponsor Student visas are marked, with their sponsor type, from the latest official register.

  • A clear page for each university

Official website, the location on a map, Wikipedia, the year it was founded, and — where known — address, phone, type, groups and official social accounts. Campus photos come from Wikimedia Commons with their author and licence.

  • Country pages with official links only

Visa, study, work-rule and cost-of-living pages from governments and official bodies, plus the application portals used in that country (UCAS, Common App, OUAC, uni-assist).

  • Shortlist and fill the gaps

Save universities to your shortlist. If one is missing, add it for yourself; if a detail is wrong, report it and we check it.

  • Offline in the apps

The Android and iPhone apps carry the whole directory, so search works on a train or a plane. It’s refreshed every month.

How to use it

  1. Search by name or city, or open a country page.

  2. Open a university to see its details, sponsor status and links.

  3. Add it to your shortlist, or start an application straight away.

Questions

More answers on the questions page.

Where does the university information come from?

From open sources rebuilt every month: the Research Organization Registry, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, the Hipo university list and the UK Home Office register of licensed student sponsors. See the credits page for details.

Do you have course lists, fees or rankings?

No. Courses and fees change every year and are best checked on the university’s own website, which every page links to. We don’t publish rankings.

Is RightUni connected to these universities?

No. RightUni isn’t affiliated with, approved by or paid by any university, and we never show university logos.
