Studying in Germany

Most public universities in Germany charge no tuition fees for international students, only a semester contribution. The main exception is Baden-Württemberg, which charges non-EU students €1,500 a semester. Many master’s courses are taught in English.

How applications work

Many universities use uni-assist to check international applications; others take applications directly. Indian applicants almost always need an APS certificate before applying for a visa.

Getting your visa

You apply for a national visa for study at the German mission in your country. Most applicants show their funds with a blocked account holding €11,904 for the year.

Working and staying on

Non-EU students can work 140 full days or 280 half days a year. After graduating you can get a residence permit for up to 18 months to look for a job that matches your qualification.
